II. KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Immediate Superior : Senior Geochemist
Immediate Subordinates : Laboratory Technician
Non-TGE Personnel Overseen : Chemistry Laboratory Contractor
III. JOB OBJECTIVE
Under the supervision of the Senior Geochemist, plans, coordinates and implements all chemical analyses for geothermal water and gas samples and ensures high quality analytical results.
IV DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
1. Documents and prepares samples for analyses of laboratory personnel.
2. Performs quality controls of all analytical data prior to submission to geochemists.
3. Confers with geoscientists and engineers to interpret analytical results, conduct research projects or develop procedures.
4. Directs, coordinate and advice chemistry laboratory contractors in test procedures for required analyses of water or gas samples.
5. Maintains accurate and thorough records of laboratory procedures and results.
6. Ensures compliance with government regulations.
7. Prepares analytical work sheets and reports.
8. Oversees and participates in the preparation of chemical reagents.
9. When TGE chemical laboratory is already established, assesses laboratory equipment needs and trains laboratory personnel in new equipment operation.
10. Assists the geochemists in collection of water and gas samples during the initial stages of exploration works.
11. Develops comprehensive documentation on all aspects laboratory operation.
12. Participates in and be an active member of any ad hoc group or team, as required, in performing special tasks related to resource assessment and geothermal research.
13. Provides a problem solution service to users and draws the attention of the immediate superior(s) to current or potential future problems related to chemistry laboratory operations.
14. Takes a proactive role in identifying new products and industry standards that can be used to enhance the laboratory performance and will benefit the geochemists, and the entire TGE operations.
15. Liaises with 3rd party organizations that provides or requires geothermal chemistry data relevant to TGE operation.
16. Provides support to other geoscientists on matters related to chemical analyses of all samples related to all aspects of geothermal operations.
17. Complies with and/or ensures compliance with the company’s data protection policies.
18. Performs other related duties, which may be assigned from time to time by the immediate superior.
V. QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Minimum Education : Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or closely related fields.
Minimum Experience : Three (3) years of experience in Chemical Laboratory operations or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Special Skills:
Working knowledge on operating geothermal chemical laboratory.
Working knowledge on chemical parameters used in geochemical studies.
Working knowledge of Windows Operating System.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent knowledge on operating different laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of implementing various methods of chemical analyses.
Knowledge of industry standards on chemical laboratory operations.
Good working knowledge of PC's and peripherals.
Ability to develop chemical standards related to chemical analyses.
Ability to learn applications of chemistry in geothermal operations.
Ability to maintain high quality database for analytical results.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other departments, supervisors, and employees.
Establish quality control procedures and techniques.
